1843 At The Altar of Heaven and Grace… I Grow Old [3]
[by S. David] [art by Mia Rognstad]

And the air shimmers
Above the candle’s fire
As my prayers rise to
Reach my Lord,
Whose Voice I await
To seek me out
To bring sage words
To my needy ears,
To strengthen
My ailing heart.
I bring oblations,
I bring flowers,
I drink the Sacred Soma,
And at the Altar
Of Heaven and Grace,
There may I grow
Old in joy
And happiness.

8630 Autumn
[by S. David] [art by Nata Ibragimov]

Once was
Young
Vibrant
Green
And time
Fleeing
Growing
Older
Flowering
Fulfilling
Nature’s plan
And time
Time passages
And colors
Call a last
Call to beauty
Green to
Orange to
Red to
Orange again
A last gasp
And fall
Autumn
Upon and
Upon her
A sadness
For fleeting
Follies of
Spring and
Summer as
Days shorter
Turn cold

8571 Mysterious Connection II
[by S. David] [art by Tarak Mahadi]

To constrain it
To behold
Its challenge
Its defiance
For it lives
No matter
Blindly it
Seeks the light
Knowing in
Its gut
Its heart
It genes
The checkerboard
Flow
Of dark
And light
Of day
And night
And seasons
Knowing
Defying
It must die
The Sands
Of Time
Govern it
Governs all
Its measure
Varies
For each
For each
Its own time
Is relative
Yet time must
The Heavens
The earth
And all
Their flow
Of time
Differs
Yet in the end
Connects all
Connects all

8582 Skull
[by S. David][art by Genevive Zacconi]

Does it
Make it
More
Horrifying
Death
Dividing
Flesh
Dissolving
But
It was
It was
Love
Body and
Soul
Body and
Soul
Even
A ghoul
Feasting
Would know
Would mark
It was
Different
For still
No flesh
No eyes
Still then
Tears
From
The soul
Mark
The skull
Of a love
That
Cannot die

6842 Chambers of the Soul
[by S. David] [art by Joe Fox]

Like a library
His mind
Organized
He put a name
A letter
A number
To all he
Consciously
Thought of
While he
Concentrated
On thinking
And in his Soul
It seemed to be
The same
His experiences
His emotions
Feelings ‘a’ and ‘b’
Reflecting beliefs
‘Beta’ and ‘delta’
Were experienced
On ‘date’ and ‘time’
When he died
It was easy
For the Heavenly
Tribunal to decide
“According to
The well organized
Testimony of
Your Soul
Pass Go sir
And to Hell
With you”
‘Pain’ was his
Favorite feeling
Other’s pain

8562 Goddess of Rhythm
[by S. David] [art by Tarak Mahadi]

Swirl
Twirl
Dance
Music
Though
A hidden
Beat
Only in
Your head

And she danced
Oh how she
Danced
For him
For him
For him
She became
More than
She thought
She was
She became
A Goddess
The Goddess
Of Rhythm
And Grace
He knew
He believed
He worshipped

8555 Masks of Life
[by S. David] [art by Nata Ibragimov]

Changes yes
Think
The masks
You wear
Put on
Take off
Daily
So many
You
From other’s
View
From you
They do that
They are
Not you
So many
So many
Each day
Ah but
It’s true
The times
There are
None
When
Alone
At home
Unless
You really
Seek to
Deceive
Yourself

8577 Stigma
[by S. David] [art by Genevive Zacconi]

It was always
The strange ones
He met
Women
That were
Different
Some had
Strange
Mental powers
See the past
See some futures
Channel the dead
But she was
Stranger
Than those
Psychosomatic
Maybe no
Definitely
They were
Going out
A formal affair
Well dressed
Yes she knew
How to
But
But
Then
Stigma
Appeared
Visible
Scene from
A crucifixion
He couldn’t
Do it
They
Stayed home

8599 Hurricane
[by S. David] [art by Zaria Forman]

Power
Power
And what is
Man
He may stretch
Out his hand
Press a button
And a city
Disappears
But
But
The God
Of earth
And Heaven
Yes we can
Explain
After the fact
Even sometimes say
“Soon”
The land
Explodes
Volcano
The waters
Mount
Tidal wave
Wash away
And
The winds
Blow
Tornado
And lo
Wind and rain
Walk the land
Hurricane
Ah yes
We can
Explain
Explain

8302 Human
[by S. David] [art by Tarak Mahadi]

Shudder
Shiver
Cower
Whence comes
Your hero
Who shall
Protect you
From
The Druj
The Devas
The bloodsuckers
That haunt
Your nights
Your days
Do you believe
But you must
If you want
Some hero
Some Saint
To put a hold
A stop to
Those who will
Suck your blood
Shred your body
In the day
In the night
You are human
Only human
They are not
